Carsten, could it be enhanced to show all the classes in the 3rd person? Would be a wonderful thing to see smile.gif

Yes, of course, but I thought that showing all classes would make the page very confusing. I could try and add some kind of button for showing/hiding the classes.

That is an excellent idea

Carsten,

1. Is there a reason why the subjunctive is excluded from the inflection output?

2. How far have you studied it? The African Voices material only covers the present subjunctive I think?

I am studying the second year of a degree course at UKZN with a private tutor, trying to fast track it big time, however it is proving quite fruitful, some stuff that used to go way over my head is beginning to make (some) kind of sense

What do you say to adding the subjunctive mood?

Yes, laziness. wink.gif

AFAIK there is only the present subjunctive. Would it make any sense to put it into other tenses? I'm going to add the subjunctive. There's still some room left next to the present tense. smile.gif

You are lucky to be able to study with a private tutor! I'd be glad if I had someone to shout at when things don't seem to make any sense. biggrin.gif

Well there is a past subjunctive. It is formed exactly as the remote past but the "a" that constitutes the ending of the concord is pronounced as a much shorter vowel

The negative is formed in one of two ways: by prefixing a- to the positive form, or by inserting -nga- after the concord. In either case the ending is -a not -i.

I am pretty hazy still on where this tense should be used, I'm not worried too much for now, all will become clear in time no doubt.

Maybe our mother tongue speaking members can shed some light?
